91.31

In an auspicious month, the pure fast is instituted; / An auspicious day summons boundless [fortune].
The four assemblies gather according to the time; / The sevenfold assembly convenes, ascending the hall.
Desolate and pure, the sacred chants arise; / Mournful and resonant, they stir the palace and commerce notes.
The fragrance of incense ascends into the sky; / Borne upon the wind, it disperses to distant realms.
Praising virtues, one probes the profound depths; / With eloquent speech, the mysterious sweetness flows.
Washing away defilements, wondrous verses are presented; / Promptly extemporising refined stanzas.
The monastics and the laity rely upon one another; / Wealth and Dharma emanate divine radiance.
The field of merit is fulfilled this evening; / Bestowing grace that establishes both the living and the dead.
