'The great urn you saw—in the time of Kāśyapa Buddha, he was a renunciant who had charge of fruits and vegetables for the Saṃgha. The fragrant, delicious, and fine items he first ate himself, and gave the sour fruits and bitter vegetables to the Saṃgha afterward, or arbitrarily selected the fine ones to give [to his favourites]. Because of his unfairness, he entered hell and became a great urn of flesh, burned by fire and enduring suffering without ceasing down to the present day.'
