In the Song period, there was a man whose name has been forgotten. He slept together with his wife. At dawn, the wife arose. Later, the husband went outside, yet the wife returned to see her husband still asleep under the quilt. Soon after, a servant boy came in from outside and said that the master was asking for a mirror. The wife thought the servant was lying and cleverly pointed at the bed to show the servant. The servant said: "I have just come from the master's side." Thereupon, he ran out to inform the husband. Greatly startled, [the husband] came in. Husband and wife looked together at the person under the quilt: pillowing his head high and sleeping peacefully, it was precisely his form, with not the slightest difference. Fearing it was his spirit soul, they did not dare to disturb it; instead, they gently patted the bed with their hands together. Thereupon, it drifted slowly into the mat and gradually dissolved away. The husband and wife were terrified by this. A short time later, the husband fell ill, his mental faculties became disordered, and he thereupon passed away. (The above evidential miracle is from the Xu Soushen ji.)
