These two encompass the two lands of principle and phenomena. First, regarding the reward land: this refers to when the Buddha, the Tathāgata, appears in the world; the nature of his various virtues is uncontaminated and not encompassed by the three realms. Furthermore, the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: 'There is a wondrous pure land that surpasses the three realms.' Yet the Buddha's dwelling places have no place as their place, transcending the worlds of the ten directions; or, the pure land is established based on the dharmakāya. Hence the treatise says: 'Śākyamuni Buddha also has a pure world, like the country of Amitābha; and that Buddha Amitābha also has adornments that are pure and not pure, like Śākyamuni Buddha.' Furthermore, the *Nirvāṇa-sūtra* says: 'I in truth do not leave the boundary of Jambudvīpa.' Furthermore, a verse in the *Lotus Sūtra* says:
