'I was merely begging for food,
Yet for no reason you violently assaulted me.
My pain is but for an instant;
How will you bear your long suffering?
Just as when a sharp sword cuts a foul corpse,
The foul corpse feels no pain,
Yet it is not that the sword is not sharp;
And just like heavenly amṛta
Fed to a foolish sty pig:
The sty pig abandons it and runs away,
Yet it is not that the amṛta is not delicious.
I instruct the violent and foolish of the world with the Buddha's true words,
Yet the violent and foolish do not reflect—
Is it not just like this?'
Returning, he reported this to the Buddha. The Buddha said: This is his own ruin. At the end of his life, he will enter the Avīci Hell. The hell demons will inflict pain and poisons with nothing spared; after eighty-four thousand years, when his life there ends, he will take the body of a python, and the poison will turn back to harm himself. He will again take the form of a viper, constantly eating sand and soil, ending only after ten thousand years. Because he directed an angry mind toward a precept-keeper, he receives a poisonous body; because he cast sand and soil into the bowl, he will eat sand and soil and die life after life. When his sins are exhausted and he is born as a human, while his mother carries him she will have severe illness, and his household will diminish daily. When the child is born, he will be dull and obstinate, completely without hands and feet. His relatives, astonished, will all say, 'What monster has come to bring inauspiciousness?' They will immediately take him and cast him out at the crossroads. Passersby will be terrified, vying to strike his head and cave in his skull with tiles, stones, knives, and sticks; after ten days of extreme suffering, he will die. After dying, his spirit will immediately be reborn, dull and obstinate as before, and only after five hundred lives will the heavy retribution be exhausted. When later born as a human, he will constantly suffer headaches, the place where he is born will not encounter an era with a Buddha, and he will constantly remain in the three evil paths.
