第五染淨相對。如智度論云。佛法中有四種布施。一施者清淨受者不淨。二施者不淨受者清淨。三施受俱淨。四施受俱不淨。且偏解一句。餘類可解。何等二俱清淨者。如佛自供養佛故。是為二俱清淨。如東方寶積佛功德力所生華。寄十住法身普明菩薩。送此華來上散釋迦牟尼佛。知十方佛。是第一福田。是為二俱清淨(餘句可解)。
Fifth, the contrast between defiled and pure: As the *Dazhidu lun* says, there are four kinds of giving (dāna) in the Buddha-Dharma: (1) the giver is pure and the recipient impure; (2) the giver is impure and the recipient pure; (3) both giver and recipient are pure; (4) neither giver nor recipient is pure. Let us explain one phrase in particular, and the rest may be understood by analogy. What is 'both are pure'? It is as when a Buddha himself makes offerings to a Buddha; this is called 'both are pure'. For example, flowers born of the power of merit of Ratnasaṃbhava Buddha in the east were sent in the care of Samantaprabhā Bodhisattva, who had attained the dharmakāya of the ten abodes; he brought these flowers and scattered them over Śākyamuni Buddha. He knew that the Buddhas of the ten directions are the supreme field of merit. This is called 'both are pure'. (The other phrases may be understood by analogy.)
