12.49

又善見論云。一者色生。二者無色生。色生可壞。無色生不可壞。無色之生。依於色生。色心相依共成假者。名之為生。使前不感後。後不赴前。名之為死。

Furthermore, the Samantapāsādikā says: 'First, form-birth; second, formless-birth. Form-birth can be destroyed; formless-birth cannot be destroyed. The birth of the formless relies upon form-birth. Form and mind mutually rely upon each other to jointly establish the conventional person, which is called birth. Causing what comes before not to induce what comes after, and what comes after not to follow what comes before, is called death.'
