12.57

又化生金翅鳥王。欲取卵生龍。即向樹東海中取之。若欲取胎生龍者。即向樹南海中取之。若欲取濕生龍者。即向樹西海中取之。若欲取化生龍者。即向樹北海中取之。水開一千六百由旬。彼諸龍等。皆為此金翅鳥王之所食噉。

Furthermore, when an apparitionally born garuḍa king wishes to capture an egg-born nāga, he goes toward the sea east of the tree to capture it. If he wishes to capture a womb-born nāga, he goes toward the sea south of the tree to capture it. If he wishes to capture a moisture-born nāga, he goes toward the sea west of the tree to capture it. If he wishes to capture an apparitionally born nāga, he goes toward the sea north of the tree to capture it, the water parting for one thousand six hundred yojanas. All those nāgas are devoured by this garuḍa king.
