Furthermore, the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya says: When the Buddha was in Śrāvastī, a brahman had a daughter whose facial features were upright and whose complexion was pure, named Prabhāvatī. A physiognomist divined, 'This girl will later have relations with five hundred men.' When people heard this, although the girl reached the age of twelve, no one sought her in marriage. At that time, the brahman had a neighboring merchant who often went to sea to gather treasures. From an upper story, this merchant saw the girl from afar and immediately gave rise to lust. He asked others, 'Whose daughter is this?' They replied, 'She is the daughter of a certain brahman.' 'Has anyone taken her?' They replied, 'No.' 'Has anyone sought her?' They replied, 'Not yet.' He asked, 'Why has no one sought her?' They replied, 'This girl has a fault: a physiognomist divined that this girl will later have relations with five hundred men; therefore no one seeks her.' The merchant thought to himself, 'Except for the śramaṇas of the Śākyan clan, no one enters my house.' He then went to seek and marry her. Not long after the girl arrived, the merchant formed a company wishing to go to sea. He called the doorkeeper and said to him, 'I wish to go to sea; do not permit any man to force his way into my house, except for the śramaṇas of the Śākyan clan, who are without fault.' The doorkeeper replied, 'Yes.' After he left, a śramaṇa begged for food at the house. When this girl saw him, she said, 'Engage in desire with me.' The bhikṣus did not understand and reported it to the Buddha. The Buddha said, 'This house must have unchastity; you should not go there.' This girl later contracted an illness and died at night. Her family took her adornments and discarded her in the charnel ground. At that time, a band of five hundred thieves was passing through this place. Seeing the dead woman, they gave rise to lust and had sex with her. Because this girl had previously told śramaṇas and brahmans, 'Engage in desire with me,' due to this cause and condition she fell into the evil destinies. In the north of that country, she was born as a lustful dragon named Bhīmadattā.
