15.6

善牙問野干言。汝以何事得知。答言。汝等二獸共集一處。相見自知。爾時野干。竊語善牙已。便往語善搏虎言。汝知不。善牙有如是語。而我今日種姓生處。悉皆勝汝。力勢亦勝。何以故。我常食好肉。善搏虎食我殘肉而自活命。爾時即說偈言。

Good-Tooth asked the jackal, 'From what matter do you know this?' [The jackal] replied, 'You two beasts gather together in one place; looking at each other, you will know for yourself.' Then the jackal, having secretly spoken to Good-Tooth, went and spoke to Tiger Good-Striker, saying: 'Do you know? Good-Tooth spoke such words: "Today my lineage and place of birth are entirely superior to yours, and my power and might are also superior. Why? I constantly eat fine meat, and Tiger Good-Striker eats my leftover meat to preserve his life."' Then it spoke a verse:
