鸛雀語言。何為作此語。來共作親善。白鵝答言。我知汝諂詐。終不親善。汝欲知爾時鵝王者。即我身是也。爾時鸛雀者。今提婆達多是也。

The crane said, “Why do you speak such words? Come, let us be close friends.” The white goose answered, “I know your flattery and deceit; I will never be your close friend.” Do you wish to know who the king of geese was at that time? It was none other than myself. The crane of that time was the present Devadatta.
