17.24

問曰。無病飲酒得罪。有病開飲不答曰。依四分律。實病餘藥治不差。以酒為藥者不犯。

Question: Drinking liquor without illness incurs guilt; if one is ill, is it permitted to drink it? Answer: According to the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya, if there is a real illness that other medicines cannot cure, and one uses liquor as medicine, it is not an offense.
