19.24

如僧祇律云。若是大德病者。應在露現處上好房中。擬道俗問訊生善。瞻病人每須燒香燃燈。香汁塗地供待人客。

As the *Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya* states: "If it is a venerable elder who is sick, they should be placed in an open, visible, and high-quality room, arranged so that monastics and laity may inquire after them and generate goodness. The caregiver attending the sick must frequently burn incense and light lamps, and smear the floor with fragrant liquid to receive guests."
