所謂長老相 不必以年耆
形瘦鬢髮白 空老內無德
能捨罪福果 精進行梵行
已離一切法 是名為長老
"What is called the mark of an elder / Does not necessarily consist in advanced age. / With emaciated form and white temples and hair, / One is merely old in vain, devoid of virtue within. / One who can abandon the fruits of sin and blessing, / Vigorously practices the holy life, / And has become detached from all dharmas— / Such a one is called an elder."
