又智度論云。食為行道不為益身。如養馬養猪無異。若初得食時。先獻三寶後施四生。故華嚴經偈云。
Also, the Zhidu lun states: "Food is for practicing the Way, not for benefiting the body; it is no different from raising a horse or raising a pig. When first obtaining food, one should first offer it to the Triratna, and afterwards bestow it on the four classes of living beings." Therefore, a verse in the Avataṃsaka-sūtra says:
