9.100
佛告諸比丘。爾時野干主者。今提婆達多是。時群野干者。今諸比丘諫提婆達多者是。當知於過去時。已曾不受知識軟語。自喪身命。今復不受諸比丘諫。當墮惡道長受苦痛。頌曰。
The Buddha told the bhikṣus: 'The jackal leader of that time was Devadatta today. The pack of jackals of that time were the bhikṣus who now admonish Devadatta. You should know that in the past, he already refused to accept the gentle words of spiritual friends and brought about his own death. Now again he refuses to accept the admonitions of the bhikṣus, and will fall into the evil destinies to endure bitter pain for a long time.' The verse says:
