10.29

'If a person is able daily to make a vow to first give food to others and only then eat themselves—if they violate this vow, they forfeit goods to the Buddha, and feeling shame upon the infraction, yet if they do not violate it, this is a cause and condition for subtle and wondrous wisdom. Such giving is the highest among all gifts, and this person also earns the name of a superior dānapati.'
