Furthermore, the Za posha lun says: Māra the Evil One saw the Bodhisattva sitting beneath the Bodhi tree, upright in body and unmoved, having vowed to attain bodhi. He quickly came out of his palace and went to where the Bodhisattva was, saying to the Bodhisattva: 'Son of the kṣatriya, you should rise from this seat! In this corrupt and evil age, sentient beings are obstinate; you certainly cannot realize anuttara-bodhi. For now, you should accept the position of a Cakravartin king; I shall offer you the seven treasures.' The Bodhisattva told him: 'What you say now is like enticing a child. The sun, moon, and stellar constellations may be made to fall; mountains, forests, and the great earth may rise into empty space; but to wish that I now do not attain Great Enlightenment and rise from this seat—this is utterly impossible.' Later, Māra led an army of thirty-six koṭis of demons, each manifesting various terrifying forms and holding weapons of endless varieties, covering an area thirty-six yojanas in measure. They simultaneously rushed toward the Bodhi tree, but none could disturb the Bodhisattva. The Bodhisattva's body and mind remained unmoved, surpassing Mount Sumeru.
