The fourth great hell, Raurava, is likewise surrounded by sixteen small hells, each five hundred yojanas in length and breadth. Why is it called the Raurava (Crying Out) Hell? The hell wardens seize the sinners and throw them into great cauldrons, and also place them into great iron pots; the boiling broth surges and boils, cooking those sinners while they wail and cry out in acrid and agonizing pain. Furthermore, they take those sinners and throw them onto great roasting griddles, turning them over and over to roast and fry them. After long suffering the pain, they finally exit Raurava, arrive at the Black Sand Hell, and so forth down to the Cold Ice Hell, only then does their life end. Because of harboring malicious anger and committing all kinds of evil actions, they fall into the Raurava Hell.
