"Sixth, there are sentient beings whose bellies are huge and whose necks are thin, unable to swallow food. If they eat anything, it turns into pus and blood. What sin brought this about?" The Buddha said: "In their past lives, they stole the saṃgha's food, or secretly ate food meant for great merit-making gatherings in hidden places; they begrudged their own possessions and only coveted the wealth of others, constantly harboring malicious intent and giving people poison so that their breath was cut off. Therefore they incurred this sinful retribution."
