The *Jingtu sanmei jing* also states: "Whether a person creates good or evil, [determines whether they] are born in heaven or fall into hell. At the end of life, there are always those who come to welcome them. When one is sick and about to die, one's eyes personally see those who come to receive them. Those who should be born in heaven are welcomed by devas holding robes, instruments, and music. Those who should be born in another realm see in their eyes a venerable person speaking wondrous words to them. If one has done evil and is to fall into hell, one's eyes see soldiers holding swords, shields, spears, halberds, and ropes surrounding them. What they see differs, yet their mouths cannot speak; each receives their retribution in accordance with what they have done. Heaven is free of wrongful injustice, fair and upright without partiality; according to what has been done, the net of heaven executes judgment."
