Furthermore, the *Guanfo sanmei jing* says: At that time, a spirit of the wilderness addressed the Buddha, saying: 'I have always eaten humans; if I do not kill now, what shall I eat?' The Buddha instructed the ghost king: 'Only refrain from killing, and I will instruct my disciples to constantly give you food, until the Dharma perishes. Through my power, you will be made full.' The ghost king heard this with joy and received the Buddha's five precepts. Therefore, the *Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra* says: It is prescribed for all śrāvaka disciples to offer a portion of food for sentient beings to relieve wild ghosts and spirits. Furthermore, the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: When ghosts and spirits receive even a small amount of food and drink from humans, they are able to transform it into much, making themselves fully satisfied.
