Furthermore, the *Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā* says: "There are four things that can cause the regression and loss of wisdom, which bodhisattvas should stay far away from. What are the four? First, not revering the Dharma and those who preach the Dharma. Second, concealing and being stingy with essential teachings. Third, creating obstacles for those who delight in the Dharma and ruining their intent to listen. Fourth, harboring arrogance, exalting oneself, and disparaging others. There are also four things through which one attains wisdom, which one should constantly practice. What are the four? First, revering the Dharma and those who preach the Dharma. Second, according to the Dharma one has heard and recited, preaching it for others with a pure mind, seeking neither gain nor offerings. Third, knowing that wisdom is attained through extensive learning, diligently seeking it without ceasing, as if putting out a fire on one's own head. Fourth, retaining without forgetting the Dharma as one has heard it, valuing practicing as preached and not valuing mere talk."
