Furthermore, the Samantapāsādikā says: After King Śuddhodana paid homage to the Buddha, he said to the Buddha, 'I have now thrice paid homage to the Tathāgata's feet. First, when the Buddha was newly born, Asita examined his marks and said, "If he stays at home, he will become a wheel-turning sagely king; if he leaves home to study the Way, he will surely attain Buddhahood." At that time the earth shook; seeing this spiritual power, I immediately paid homage. Second, when I went out for recreation, there were people plowing the field; the Bodhisattva was beneath a jambu tree; the time was already afternoon, but the shadow of the tree stayed still without shifting, sheltering the Bodhisattva's body; seeing this spiritual power, I immediately paid homage. Third, now welcoming the Buddha to the kingdom, the Buddha ascended into the sky and performed eighteen transformations, fearless in spiritual power as he subdued non-Buddhists; I immediately paid homage.'
