Furthermore, the Ekottarika-āgama states: “When striking the bell, [make the wish]: ‘May all the sufferings of the evil destinies entirely cease!’ If one hears the sound of the bell and recites verses of praise along with it, grave sins of birth and death spanning five hundred billion kalpas can be eradicated.”
