Furthermore, the Fo bannihuan jing says: Moreover, if one wishes to approach the path, there should be four joys that one ought to cultivate through good mindfulness. First: the joy of the mind in buddhānusmṛti, never departing from it. Second: the joy of the mind in mindfulness of the Dharma, never departing from it. Third: the joy of the mind in mindfulness of the Saṃgha, never departing from it. Fourth: the joy of the mind in mindfulness of the precepts, never departing from it. Cultivating these four joys, one must certainly make them complete; then, clearly seeing for oneself, one should expect right deliverance, seeking the essential liberation of the body, which can eliminate and cut off the paths of hell, animals, and hungry ghosts. Though one may cycle in rebirth among the heavens and human beings, in no more than seven births one will naturally cut off the boundary of suffering (giving and the gods are the same as before).
