Furthermore, the Pinimu jing says: If a bhikṣu expounds the Dharma, he should also constantly be mindful, contemplating the body as suffering, empty, impermanent, non-self, and impure, never letting this be interrupted. Why? Because he will attain the twelve thoughts that accomplish the noble Dharma. What are the twelve thoughts? First, mindful of accomplishing one's own body. Second, mindful of accomplishing others. Third, mindful of the wish to obtain a human body. Fourth, mindful of being born into a noble clan. Fifth, mindful of obtaining faith within the Buddha-Dharma. Sixth, mindful that in the place where one is born, one obtains the various dharmas without having to apply extra effort. Seventh, mindful that in the place where one is born, one's faculties are fully complete. Eighth, mindful of encountering the Buddha, the Bhagavat, appearing in the world. Ninth, mindful that in the place where one is born, one may constantly expound the correct Dharma. Tenth, mindful of the wish that the expounded Dharma may long abide. Eleventh, mindful of the wish that, the Dharma abiding long, one may practice in accordance with it. Twelfth, mindful of constantly obtaining a mind of pity for all sentient beings. Therefore, if one attains these twelve thoughts completely, one will certainly attain the noble Dharma.
