Furthermore, the Daśabhāṇavāra-vinaya states: Bathing yields five benefits: first, removing dust and dirt; second, smoothing the body's skin to make it of one color; third, dispelling cold and heat; fourth, regulating downward-moving wind; fifth, having few illnesses and pains. Śāriputra, during the peak of summer heat, was seen by a hired laborer who was drawing water to irrigate trees in an orchard. The laborer gave rise to a slight faith upon seeing Śāriputra, called Śāriputra, had him take off his clothes under a tree, and bathed him with water, so that his body gained coolness. After the laborer ended his life, he was immediately born in Trāyastriṃśa Heaven with great power and authority. Although his effort was small, because he encountered a good field of merit, he obtained a very abundant retribution. He immediately descended to visit Śāriputra and scattered flowers to make offerings to him. Relying on his faith, Śāriputra expounded the essentials of the Dharma for him, and he attained the fruit of srotāpanna.
