案上統傳漢法本內傳。合阿含經中。皆曰周昭王二十三年七月十五日。現白象瑞。降摩耶夫人胎。明年四月八日。於嵐毘園波羅下。右脇而誕也。

The Shangtong zhuan, the Han faben neizhuan, and the Āgama sūtras all say that on the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the twenty-third year of King Zhao of Zhou, auspicious white elephant omens appeared, and he descended into Queen Māyā's womb. On the eighth day of the fourth month of the following year, beneath a sala tree in Lumbinī Park, he was born from her right side.
