北朝立制多是附僧。南土新規別行尼正。宋太始二年。勅尼寶賢為尼僧正。又以法淨為京邑尼都維那。此則承乏之漸。梁陳隋唐少聞其事。偏霸之國往往聞有尼統尼正之名焉。

The institutional systems established in the Northern dynasties mostly subordinated [nuns] to monks. In the southern lands, a new regulation separately implemented [the office of] Rectifier of Nuns. In the second year of the Taishi reign of the Song (466 CE), the nun Baoxian was decreed to be Rectifier of Bhikṣuṇīs, and Fajing was also made Metropolitan Karmadāna for Nuns. This was the gradual beginning of filling vacancies [with such offices]. During the Liang, Chen, Sui, and Tang, one rarely hears of such matters. In the regional hegemonic states, one occasionally hears of the titles Controller of Nuns and Rectifier of Nuns.
