瑜伽論云。在家。煩撓若居塵宇。出家。閑曠猶處虛空。是故應捨一切於善說。毘奈耶中正信捨家趣於非家○毘婆沙論云。家者是煩惱因緣。夫出家者。為滅垢累故。宜遠離也。

The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra states: "Living at home is troubling and vexing, like dwelling in a dusty house; leaving the household is broad and expansive, like abiding in open space. Therefore, one should renounce everything, and in the well-expounded Vinaya, through correct faith renounce home and go forth into the homeless state." ○ The Vibhāṣā-śāstra states: "The household is a condition for defilement. One who leaves the household does so to extinguish defilements and entanglements; hence one should stay far away from it."
