俱舍論云。若已捨戒。亦不許更出家為於此毀損功用。由正法滅盡。毘那羯磨無故。更不得新護故。

The Abhidharmakośa-śāstra states: If one has already renounced the precepts, one is also not permitted to renounce the household life again; for in this, one's practice is damaged and ruined, because the true Dharma has been extinguished, and because there is no vinaya-karman, one can no longer receive new protection.
