（成實論云。當捨五慳。一財物慳二法慳三）家慳（謂惜門徒家不欲別人識。恐失已利故）四住處慳（謂有房舍不欲人居）五讚歎慳（謂不揚人美事恐勝已故）。

(The Tattvasiddhi-śāstra says: 'One should abandon the five miserlinesses: first, miserliness with wealth; second, miserliness with the Dharma; third,) miserliness with families (meaning cherishing donor families, not wishing others to know them for fear of losing one's own gain); fourth, miserliness with dwellings (meaning having rooms and not wishing others to live in them); fifth, miserliness with praise (meaning not promoting others' good qualities for fear that they might surpass oneself).'
