智度論云。佛言白衣給施衣食。當知節量。不令他𣫆竭。則檀越歡喜。信心不絕。受者不乏。
The Mahāprajñāpāramitōpadeśa says: The Buddha said that when white-robed laypeople provide offerings of clothing and food, one must know measure and moderation, not causing them to be depleted; then the dānapati will rejoice, faithful confidence will not be severed, and the recipient will not lack for anything.
