菩薩本行經云。夫懈怠者。眾行之累。在家懈怠。則衣食不供。產業不舉。出家懈怠。則不能出離生死之苦○釋論云。出家懶墮。則喪於法寶。

The Pusa benxing jing says: 'Laziness is an encumbrance to all practices. If one is lazy at home, robes and food will not be provided and undertakings will not succeed; if one is lazy upon going forth, one cannot escape the suffering of birth and death.' The Commentary states: 'If a renunciant is lazy and indolent, he forfeits the jewel of the Dharma.'
