聲聞者。瑜伽論云諸佛聖教。聲為上首。從師友所聞。此聲教。展轉修證。永出世間小行小果故。名聲聞。

As for śrāvaka: The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra states: 'Among the noble teachings of all Buddhas, sound is foremost. Hearing this vocal teaching from masters and companions, one progressively cultivates and realizes it, perpetually transcending the mundane world with lesser practice and lesser fruit; therefore, they are named śrāvakas.'
