彥悰法師福田論云。夫福田者何也。三寶之謂也。功成妙智道登圓覺。佛也。玄理幽微。正教精誠。法也。禁戒守真。威儀出俗僧也。皆是四生導首。六趣舟航。

Dharma Master Yancong's Futian lun states: 'What is the field of merit? It refers to the Three Jewels. With merit fulfilling wondrous wisdom and the Way ascending to perfect awakening, this is the Buddha. With profound principle subtle and hidden, and the true teaching refined and sincere, this is the Dharma. Observing the prohibitions and keeping purity, with deportment transcending the secular, this is the Saṅgha. All are guides for the four modes of birth and ferryboats across the six destinies.'
