In the Huguo jing, the Buddha asked King Prasenajit: 'By what mark do you contemplate the Tathāgata?' The King said: 'I contemplate the true mark of the body, and contemplate the Buddha likewise: without prior limit, without posterior limit, and without middle limit; not abiding in the three limits, yet not separate from the three limits; not abiding in the five aggregates, yet not separate from the five aggregates; not abiding in the four great elements, yet not separate from the four great elements; not abiding in the six sense spheres, yet not separate from the six sense spheres; not abiding in the three realms, yet not separate from the three realms; and even not being seeing, hearing, perceiving, or knowing; the path of mental activity extinguished, the way of language severed; identical to the limit of reality, equal to the Dharma-nature. With this mark I contemplate the Tathāgata.' The Buddha said: 'Good man, as you have spoken, the powers, fearlessnesses, and other virtues numerous as the sands of the Ganges, all the unshared dharmas of all Buddhas and Tathāgatas, are all like this. Those who cultivate prajñāpāramitā should contemplate in this manner. If one contemplates otherwise, it is called wrong contemplation.'
