立世論云。梵語底（都履切）栗車。此云畜生○大婆沙論云。傍生謂其形謗故。

The *Lishi lun* states: 'In Sanskrit it is *tiryañc* (pronounced *du-li-qie*); here this means animal (*chusheng*).' The *Mahāvibhāṣā-śāstra* states: 'They are called horizontally-moving beings (*pangsheng*) because their bodily form moves laterally.'
