毘奈耶云。佛說有二種學業。一讀誦。二禪思○鈔云。五夏已前。依人受學。律藏五夏已後。應學無人我法。

The *Vinaya* states: 'The Buddha said there are two kinds of learning: first, reading and reciting; second, dhyāna contemplation.' The *Chao* states: 'Before five summer retreats, one relies on others to receive learning in the Vinaya Piṭaka; after five summer retreats, one should study the teaching of selflessness and personal non-existence.'
