道安號彌天釋。學贍內外。符堅於藍田獲一大鼎。邊有篆字。朝廷人不識乃問於安。安曰魯襄公所鑄。堅勅三館有疑。皆問安師。

Dao'an was called 'Heaven-Filling Shi'; his learning abounded in both internal and external studies. Fu Jian obtained a large bronze cauldron in Lantian with seal script on its side. No one at the court could recognize it, so they asked Dao'an. Dao'an said: 'It was cast by Duke Xiang of Lu.' Jian ordered that whenever the Three Institutes had doubts, they should all consult Master Dao'an.
