2.64

佛住王舍城行諸房。見一比丘枕手臥。知而問曰。汝安樂否。答我所枕手。失鉢墮地乃破故不樂。佛言聽蓄鐵鉢○鉢律有制。聽三品量文多不錄。

When the Buddha was staying in Rājagṛha, he walked among the rooms and saw a monk lying down with his head resting on his hand. Knowing [the reason], he asked, "Are you at peace?" He replied, "The hand I rested my head on dropped my bowl to the ground and it broke; therefore, I am unhappy." The Buddha said, "I permit keeping an iron bowl." (As for the bowl, the vinaya has regulations, permitting three grades of capacity; because the text is lengthy, it is not recorded).
