三千威儀經云。坐禪有十事。一．當隨時。謂四時也。二．得安床。謂禪床也。三．軟座。毛座也。四．閑處。謂山間樹下也。五．得善知識謂好伴也。六．善檀越。謂不外求也。七．善意謂能觀也。八．善藥謂伏意也。九．能服藥。謂不念萬物也。十．得善助。謂畜禪帶也。

The Sūtra of Three Thousand Deportments states: "Sitting in meditation has ten things: 1. Fitting the season, which means the four seasons. 2. Obtaining a comfortable couch, which means a meditation couch. 3. A soft seat, which means a wool seat. 4. A secluded place, which means among the mountains and beneath trees. 5. Obtaining a good friend, which means a good companion. 6. A good donor, which means not having to seek outside. 7. Good intention, which means being able to contemplate. 8. Good medicine, which means subduing the mind. 9. Being able to take the medicine, which means not thinking about external phenomena. 10. Obtaining a good support, which means keeping a meditation strap."
