以竹葦為之。用物包一頭。令下座執行。坐禪昏睡。以軟頭點之。
It is made of bamboo or reed. One end is wrapped with fabric. A junior monk is ordered to hold it. When a meditator is drowsy and slumps, he is tapped with the soft end.
