（間字去聲。謂被中間言語鬪亂）根本毘奈耶云。朋友不得因他語便相棄捨。若聞他語當善觀察（謂徵其辭察有罪也）。

(The word *jian* is in the falling tone, referring to being thrown into conflict by words passed between people.) The Mūlasarvāstivāda Vinaya says: 'Friends must not abandon one another simply on account of the words of others. If one hears the words of others, one should examine them well (meaning to verify their statements and investigate if there is guilt).'
