This is the regular rule for Vinaya residences. It is translated here as 'dwelling together,' and also as 'pure dwelling.' The Vinaya states: "Poṣadha is translated in the language of Tang as 'nourishing purity,' meaning removing the defilement of broken precepts and nourishing purity. The intention is to cause them, every half month, to recall the offenses they have committed, and confess and reveal them before those who have not committed offenses, altering their former transgressions. First, this prevents them from being done again in the present; second, it warns against future disregard of the Dharma." The Vinayamātṛkā-śāstra states: "Why is it called poṣadha? Answer: Severance is called poṣadha, meaning being able to sever deeds, being able to sever afflictions, and severing all unwholesome phenomena. Therefore, it is also said that purity is called poṣadha."
