問。三位之中戒於何捨。答大毘婆沙論云。將死時身力羸劣。或斷末摩苦惱觸故。便失所受身。語律儀本所要期。至最後命終剎那心。與律儀一時俱失緣由心引起從心發生心捨故戒隨捨也。

Question: Among the three states, at which point are the precepts relinquished? Answer: The Mahāvibhāṣā-śāstra states: When one is about to die, the physical strength is emaciated and weak, or because of being touched by the distress of severing the marmans, one then loses the received bodily and vocal disciplines. The original undertaking, at the very last mind of the moment of death, is lost simultaneously with the discipline. Since it was induced by the mind and arose from the mind, when the mind is relinquished, the precepts are accordingly relinquished.
