荷負（上音何又音賀字書荷擔負也下負字說文上從人下從貝上古人字也非是力亦非刀俗多從力或從刀皆非也）。

Shouldering and bearing (荷負: for the first character, the pronunciation is he [音何], or also he [音賀]; the character dictionaries say that he [荷] means to carry on the shoulder and fu [負] means to carry on the back. For the second character, fu [負], the Shuowen says that above it takes rén [人] and below it takes bèi [貝]; above is the ancient character for rén [person], not lì [力, strength] nor dāo [刀, knife]. Popular scripts often write it with lì [力] or dāo [刀], both of which are incorrect).
