搖擊（上翼消反考聲搖作也說文動也從手䍃聲也䍃音由䍃字從肉從缶經文從爪非也下經亦反顧野王云擊猶捶打也說文支也從手𣪠聲𣪠音與上同從𨊥從殳𨊥音衛殳音殊攴音普卜）。

Waving and striking (搖擊: for the first character, the fanqie yì + xiāo [翼消]; the Kaosheng says that yáo means to stir; the Shuowen says it means to move; it is composed of shǒu [手] with yáo [䍃] as phonetic; yáo is pronounced yóu; the character yáo [䍃] is composed of ròu [肉] and fǒu [缶]; in sūtra texts it is written with zhǎo [爪], which is incorrect. The lower character is the fanqie jīng + yì [經亦]; Gu Yewang says that jī means beating or striking; the Shuowen says it means to support or hit against; it is composed of shǒu [手] with jī [𣪠] as phonetic; 𣪠 has the same pronunciation as the word itself, and is composed of wèi [𨊥] and shū [殳]; 𨊥 is pronounced wèi; shū is pronounced shū; pū [攴] is pronounced with the fanqie pǔ + bǔ [普卜]).
