噎塞 (the upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 烟結 [yan + jie]. The Kaosheng states: 'Breath blocked in the chest and throat; unable to swallow food.' The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 僧則 [seng + ze]. The Shuowen states: 'To block; formed from radical 廾,' pronounced 拱 [gong], 'with radical 宀,' pronounced 綿 [mian], 'and [(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)] with radical 土. 宀 depicts a house; [(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)] is like 齊; [(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)] is pronounced 展 [zhan]').
